the three phases of hope

Concept and Methodology

Read about the three phases of HOPE to know what we are going to implement together with the HOPE community within the next years.

phase one

Developing the methodology and the training material

the first phase

is related with the development of the project’s methodology and the training material of the project. The first activity to be organised in this phase is the development of an initial research. The main aim of the research will be the identification of the main characteristics of the peaceful civilisations throughout history and the identification and analysis of the needs of the youth regarding peace education and cultural heritage. The research methodology will include desk research and interviews with historians, stakeholders involved in peace education and young people. It will also include the identification of best practices related with several topics of the project. Following the research, there is going to be developed a Methodology Handbook. The draft of the methodology handbook is going to be based on the results of the research and will consist of an set of activities / workshops: archaeology workshops for young, storytelling, music from the ancient culture, peace building activities inspired by ancient cultures etc. and will be examined with a focus group consisting of young people and youth workers in each country. The handbook is going to be a “live” document that is going to be constantly updated and enriched on the basis of the project activities. This manual will be developed with the objective of providing an educational and practical resource to all those young people of several parts of the world interested in the subject and who can download for free on the project’s website. It is going to be translated in all languages. Finally, based on this methodology there are going to be developed training modules and training material. The training program is going to include a curriculum including a design of training activities, lesson plans as well as indicative hours that needs to be dedicated for every training activity. A focus is going to be given to the non-formal and art based learning activities which require active involvement of the learners because these are more adequate for the specific target group.

phase two

Training Sessions

after the completion of the first phase,

the training sessions are going to be organised. There is going to be organised one international training workshop for youth workers in Serbia. The youth workers are going to be trained on the project’s methodology in order to be able to transfer it to the young people they are working at the local level. Following this training, the trained youth workers are going to transfer the knowledge acquired to local youth by organising training activities at local level with the involvement of at least 300 young people (totally). The learning outcomes will be based on the methodology. The trainings are going to be organised in local language. As a last activity, there are going to be organised two international training workshops, one in Kosovo and one in Bosnia. This activity is very important because it will bring together young people from countries that have a history of conflict. 3 young people and 1 youth worker are going to participate in the training from each partner organisation.

phase three

Transfer of Expertise

the third phase of the project

is related with the transfer of expertise in young people and youth organisations that were not involved directly in the project activities. In order to engage there is going to be developed a MOOC addressed to youth workers of the West Balkan region and all over the world. The course will be available in Serbo-Croatian, Albanian and English and is expected that 80 youth workers are going to participate in the MOOC. Moreover, a virtual final conference is going to be organised online in order to transfer the results of the methodology to youth workers and youth workers. All the historians are going to be involved in the conference. It is expected the participation of 100 people.
